In the West, alternative opinions are banned, Glaz says

Information warfare is now in full swing, and the censorship issues abroad are obvious – as stated by Anatol Glaz, the Head of the Information and Digital Diplomacy Department at Belarus’ Foreign Ministry, at today’s round table discussion focusing on the country’s information security in international media space

“We are now witnessing outrageousness by heads of a range of foreign ministries. They are not engaged in reconciliation of the parties. They are not engaged in friendship, development of relations and economic issues. They are rather demonstrating disgraceful behaviour – which is senseless and illogical. Information warfare is now in full swing, and the issues of censorship abroad are obvious,” Mr. Glaz said, adding that a great number of Belarusian journalists are under Western sanctions simply for doing their job.

“In neighbouring Russia, almost all heads of the main national TV channels and media are also under sanctions, and even the press secretaries who convey the official point of view have been included in the sanctions list. The European Union has modernised its sanctions legislation to be able to impose restrictive measures against such persons. We can see how channels are being censored, and how any alternative opinion that does not coincide with the official opinion of Western countries is being strangled. They say that our information is propaganda, which threatens the interests of their democracy," he noted, stressing that the importance of information work has increased many times today.

“Political decisions are increasingly being made in Western countries based on information issues. Information resonance is more important there than substantive. Belarus will celebrate the information victory since our country is demonstrating the truth,” Mr. Glaz emphasised.
