Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó, speaking to reporters, said, “We reject any kind of forced quotas for the distribution of refugees to the EU, as well as payment of financial compensation for refusal to accept them.” He expressed confidence in the need to combat illegal migration outside the EU and strengthen the protection of the external borders of the Schengen member states.”

Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar, speaking about the situation in Ukraine, underlined that there is no military solution that would lead to a resolution of the conflict in this country. According to Blanar, peace or truce is the best solution. “We support any peace initiative that will lead to this,” the politician noted.

Blanar recalled that Slovakia rejects anti-Russian sanctions, which could negatively affect its economy and the standard of living of the country’s population. Bratislava is also categorically against attempts to remove Hungary from fulfilling the duties of the EU presidency, which should pass to it in 2024, the head of the Slovak Foreign Ministry stressed.
