Hungarian FM: it is necessary to start Russia-Ukraine negotiations as soon as possible
Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Péter Szijjártó stated that Budapest insists on the earliest possible ceasefire and the start of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, TASS reports
Péter Szijjártó noted that Hungary's position is very clear ‘when it comes to the war next to it’. According to him, Hungary believes that Russia cannot be defeated in this war. At the same time, Péter Szijjártó added that the West continues to supply weapons to Kyiv to prevent Russia from ‘winning big’. Therefore, Budapest's approach is that ‘a ceasefire and negotiations should be established and started as soon as possible’.
Péter Szijjártó summarised that the sooner negotiations begin, the sooner a ceasefire will be established, the fewer people will die, the less destruction there will be, and the less there will be a need for reconstruction.
