Global Times: Germany afraid of WWIII because of weapons deliveries to Ukraine
Sending increasingly heavy weapons to Kiev and the training of Ukrainian military personnel heightens the risks of the conflict spilling over into World War III – as noted by Bundestag deputy from the Left Party Sevim Dagdelen, RIA Novosti reports
The politician noted that this concern is shared by about 60 percent of the German population.
“The aim is to weaken Russia for the long term and to achieve that, the West is willing to accept tens of thousands of deaths and limitless suffering, as well as the destruction of Ukraine,” Sevim Dagdelen was quoted as saying by the Global Times.
In her opinion, the United States intends to fight ‘to the last Ukrainian in order to defeat Russia’, but the interests of the United States and Europe do not coincide. Sevim Dagdelen stressed that serious diplomatic measures are required to resolve the situation in Ukraine
“We are achieving the suicidal economic war, which the German government is committing through sanctions against Russia. <...> It has been calculated that in the event of stopping Russian gas deliveries, Germany’s economic output would plummet by more than 12 percent in the subsequent six months,” the politician drew attention.
According to her, at least 5.6 million jobs would be at risk.
Moreover, Sevim Dagdelen called the North Atlantic Alliance ‘the world's largest war machine’, urging for the construction of a security architecture in Europe, which would include the Russian Federation.
