France to start training Ukrainian fighter pilots in early 2024
France is set to begin training Ukrainian fighter pilots early next year – as stated in a message from the French Ministry of Armed Forces, TASS reports
The first pilots are reported to arrive in early 2024. “After initial training in France, they will continue training on fighter jets with our partners,” the military department informed.
The French Ministry of the Armed Forces did not specify which aircraft Ukrainian pilots will learn to fly and in which countries they will continue training.
The French Air Force has 195 fighters, including 96 Rafale and 99 Mirage 2000 of different series. Another 40 aircraft are in service with the French Navy.
The ministry recalled that French President Emmanuel Macron proposed to Kiev to train Ukrainian pilots in the country in May 2023.
