Expert: US losing control over various regions

The Syrian army and American forces based on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River exchanged blows, and in general, the situation around Syria has been noticeably escalating lately. In his talk with Alfa Radio, Vadim Gigin, the Director General of the National Library of Belarus, speculated on why this is happening.

The expert stated that a long-lasting conflict in being escalated in the Middle East, and Americans are confused, “What did we mean when saying that the US hegemony was coming to an end? It meant that countries – challenging the United States and becoming its competitors in the economic and military-political spheres – are coming to the fore, and these are China, Russia, Iran, and possibly India. Actually, this is not the only thing that is happening. The hegemon is obviously losing control over various regions. Look at the post-Soviet space and the armed conflict in Ukraine, which it actually fomented, and into which Russia has been drawn. The US created the conditions for an armed clash to become inevitable, but everything failed to go according to its plan. After all, Washington hoped that Moscow would collapse, Putin would be overthrown, economic sanctions would yield fruit, and a political crisis and outbreaks of internal conflicts would begin in the Russian Federation. None of this has happened. As result, the United States does not know how to behave further. Fakes, statements by Zaluzhny, information attacks at Zelenskyy, and generally everything that is happening in the Western information space in connection to Ukraine is a reflection of the fact that the United States has lost control of the situation and does not know what to do further. It is not the war that has reached an impasse, but Americans have reached it with their strategy for Ukraine.”

Exactly the same situation, according to the expert, is developing in the Middle East. “What was the Biden administration's policy? It aimed to freeze all old conflicts, cover them up. It is like a bad hostess will sweep the garbage under the rug to deal with it after her guests leave. However, the situation has flared up. Naturally, the events in the Middle East affect various American facilities. It is clear that the position of the United States, which has fully aligned itself with Israel and is trying to ignore what is happening in the Gaza Strip, causes irritation in the Muslim world. American facilities, citizens are in danger, and it can be assumed that the United States is trying to divert attention from the main conflict, to stretch the forces of Iran and armed groups to other areas of the Middle East. Meanwhile, the Syrian direction remains hot,” Mr. Gigin explained.
