Expert said about colossal corruption in Ukraine
The current conflict allows Ukrainian and Western corrupt officials to fully implement their criminal schemes – as noted by political scientist Spiridon Kilinkarov in his talk with the Soloviev Live TV channel
Earlier, an American journalist, Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh, said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and members of his entourage embezzled hundreds of millions of US Dollars that the United States allocated for the purchase of fuel. CIA analysts estimate that ‘at least $400mwas embezzled’ last year.
“Wartime allows corrupt officials to fully realise. The fact is that there are no restraining factors, no control over the use of financial resources that are pouring into Ukraine like a river. The system, which at one time was built to control the use of budgetary funds, practically does not work today. It’s clear that all tenders are closed; it’s clear that there is no access to this information. These are very favourable conditions for the implementation of corruption schemes,” said Spiridon Kilinkarov.
The political scientist believes that the scale of corruption in Ukraine is even greater than Seymour Hersh suggests.
“I think the scale of corruption is much more than $40mm. They stole a lot more. I’m convinced that the so-called Western partners are working in these corruption schemes. They are directly involved in these. Part of the financial resources allocated to Ukraine, if any, is most likely only 20-25 percent in real money. I think we are talking about even smaller amounts. All the rest of the money is actually assimilated through certain corruption schemes and returned to the countries that financed it all,” Spiridon Kilinkarov underlined.
