Expert: close neighbours should be guided by pragmatism and respect mutual interests

The Polish regime of Duda-Morawiecki has finally collapsed, with the country now having a new prime minister. The Sejm decided that the government formed earlier by Morawiecki would not receive a vote of confidence. 456 deputies took part in the voting, and 266 representatives of the opposition coalition did not approve of this cabinet. As a result, the new head of government, Donald Tusk, and members of his cabinet took the oath. Political scientist Vadim Borovik expressed his opinion what awaits Belarus in connection with the change of power in Poland.

“No matter what kind of government is formed in Poland, Belarus is well aware that we are closest neighbours who must be guided by pragmatism, mutual understanding and respect the interests of the countries. Since the Cabinet of Ministers is primarily responsible for the economy, I would like to believe that the relations between Belarus and Poland in this vein will become constructive. Today, unfortunately, economic interaction between our countries has a pronounced political connotation, which has led to a critical decrease in mutual trade turnover and an aggravation of the situation in logistics terms: the closure of border crossings, queues at the border, problems with transit, etc. I think that in the near future our Polish partners, unfortunately, will not turn away from the path of confrontation. Meanwhile, the Belarusian side, defending its interests, will make every effort to ensure that our relations gradually move into the mainstream of common sense,” noted Vadim Borovik.
