Europe may become leader in LNG purchases from Russia

Ivan Timonin, a consultant at Vygon Consulting, said that Europe will buy the most liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia in 2023, even despite the sanctions, RIA Novosti reports

Ivan Timonin said, “Despite the sanctions agenda, the largest increase in demand for Russian LNG in 2023 will be in the European region.”

He also said that significant growth is expected from Belgium. So, deliveries can grow from 4.2 million tonnes in 2022 to 7.3 million tonnes by late 2023. In Spain, the growth will total 1.3 million tonnes – up to 4.9 million tonnes while Türkiye’s purchases are expected to grow from 0.2 million to 1 million tonnes.
