EU launched first ever field exercises involving 2.8 thousand military
The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, said the European Union launched its first-ever MILEX 23 joint field exercises, TASS reports
“We are holding the first-ever joint European Union military exercise that has [ever] happened. We are taking another step to make the European Union fit to address the crises of today and threats. We will witness the simulation of an amphibious assault to secure an important harbour,” Mr. Borrell said.
According to the European official, the experience that the countries will receive as a result of the exercises can be used in humanitarian missions in ongoing world conflicts.
It is noted that the manoeuvres in Spain will last a week with the participation of 2.8 thousand military rapid reaction forces from sixteen EU states.
