Deputy: Belarusians protected by Constitution since generation of new life and birth
The Constitution of Belarus is dictated by life and written on the basis of proposals from our citizens, taking into account their mentality and historical challenges. From the generation of new life and birth, the young citizens of our country are under the protection of the Constitution. Later on, the Basic Law becomes a life ‘guide’ for Belarusians. The Constitution is the foundation of state sovereignty and independence, a guarantee of order and prosperity, and plays a huge role in building a just society and improving the quality of life of the people – as stated by a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the sixth convocation for the Brest-Eastern District No. 3, Anatoly Dashko, on Constitution Day, sb.by reports.
“Our convocation had the honour to take a direct part in the preparation of a new version of the country's Basic Law. Therefore, 83 articles were amended, 11 new articles and 1 new chapter appeared. The most memorable for me as a doctor was the work on articles 32 and 45, which are aimed at strengthening the family institutions, which are traditional for Belarusians, and guaranteeing to protect the health of our citizens,” Anatoly Dashko noted.
In 1994, when the first Constitution of independent Belarus was adopted, Anatoly Dashko worked as a doctor in the maternity ward of the Brest Regional Maternity Hospital.
“These were difficult times. I will never forget the terrible state of hospital facilities, the lack of medicines and suture material in sufficient quantities, and the high infant mortality. It is difficult to even compare the health care opportunities now with those 30 years ago, both in terms of accessibility and quality of medical care provided to the population. Article 45 of the Constitution enshrines the right of citizens of the Republic of Belarus to health protection, including free treatment at the expense of public funds, in accordance with the procedure established by law. It is the duty of citizens to take care of their own health. And the state creates conditions for affordable medical care for all citizens,” Anatoly Dashko added.
