Deflation recorded in Belarus in August

The National Statistical Committee has released new figures

Last month, the consumer price index for goods and services made 99.7 percent against July 2023, and 102.9 percent compared to December 2022. “The basic consumer price index, excluding changes in prices for certain goods and services affected by administrative and seasonal factors, amounted to 100.2 percent in August compared to July, and 102.5 percent compared to December 2022," the source said in a statement.

Food products in August became cheaper by 1 percent, but grew in price by 2.2 percent compared to December last year.

Prices for non-food products were 0.2 percent higher last month compared to July and 1.3 percent higher compared to December 2022.

Services became 0.3 percent more expensive than in July, rising by 6.5 percent compared to December last year.
