Commenting on promising areas of co-operation that could refresh trade and economic relations between the countries, the Prime Minister of Cuba noted primarily the agro-industrial complex. He noted that Belarus is a well-known agricultural producer, and the products of this sector of the economy are sold abroad.

“At the moment we are discussing the possibility of establishing a joint production facility, with the participation of a Belarusian meat and dairy company and a Cuban enterprise that has the appropriate production infrastructure. The main goal is to attract Belarusian raw materials and produce a wide range of dairy products on the premises of the Cuban enterprise. This will make it possible not only to satisfy the domestic demand of Cuba, but also to export products to the Caribbean region and to the entire Latin American region. The possibility of meat processing is also under discussion,” the Cuban politician said.

Manuel Marrero Cruz added that industry is another priority topic of co-operation, “Concrete practical steps have already been taken to organise the assembly of Belarusian tractors, trucks and buses. Another important sphere is the field of biotechnology and medicines.”

According to the Prime Minister, three contracts are planned for signing during his visit. They will make it possible to register and sell Cuban pharmaceutical products in Belarus, as well as Belarusian medicines in Cuba. In the scientific sphere, a number of agreements have also been signed between the parties, which will be implemented.
