Concept of national cultural space development in 2024-2026 approved in Belarus
The concept of the national cultural space development in all spheres of society in 2024-2026 approved in Belarus by resolution No. 961 of the Council of Ministers as of December 28th, 2023, the National Legal Internet Portal reports
The document systematically outlines approaches to the goals, objectives, principles and main directions of the national cultural space development in Belarus. It is noted that such development is aimed at the preservation of the historical memory of the Belarusian people, their national and cultural identity, the realisation of the nation’s intellectual and creative potential, an active involvement of citizens in the country’s cultural life while preserving cultural diversity and openness to the results of other peoples’ creativity and the best examples of world culture, which are of great socio-cultural importance, are highly artistic and moral in nature.
The document defines the basic principles of the national cultural space development, establishes mechanisms for the concept implementation in certain areas.
In order to preserve and promote the historical and cultural heritage, national traditions and customs, it is planned, among other things, to increase the involvement of the country's citizens with the patriotic and value-focused events. The republic intends to promote the events and personalities that made a significant contribution to the formation of the Belarusian statehood. According to the document, it is planned to implement measures aimed at improving the culture of oral and written speech in state languages in state institutions, trade organisations, catering, consumer services, and the media.
The introduction into the work of institutions and organisations of all forms of ownership of the practice of celebrating state and modern Belarusian holidays, conducting civil rituals using national traditions, involving restored and preserved historical and cultural values in cultural and tourist turnover.
The document stipulates how the national artistic culture and art will be promoted and developed, and thanks to whom the representation of Belarus’ national culture in the information and digital sphere will be achieved. The mechanisms for the development of the culture of everyday life, social relations and production, as well as for the cultural development of the regions, are also identified.
The implementation of the concept will result in a purposeful state cultural policy aimed at preserving the Belarusian people’s unity and ensuring further consolidation of Belarusian society, as well as strengthening the independent Belarusian state and the formation of national human capital.
The Culture Ministry was instructed to approve an action plan for the concept implementation and to ensure co-ordination of relevant work.
