China’s NEV exports rose by 110% in eight months of 2023

China’s exports of new energy vehicles (NEV) soared 110 percent year-on-year in the first eight months of 2023 amid the rapid expansion of the sector, Xinhua reports

According to data published by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, a total of 727,000 NEVs were exported from China between January and August.

In particular, exports of pure electric vehicles increased by 120 percent compared to the same period last year, to reach 665,000 units, and exports of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles rose by 73.5 percent, to 62,000 units.

The total volume of car exports from China over the eight months of 2023 totalled 2.94 million units – up 61.9 percent in annual terms. During the reporting period, exports of passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles respectively climbed 69.8 percent and 31.1 percent from last year.
