“A multi-option operation is being prepared, depending largely on how the peace talks process in Ukraine goes,” he said in an interview with the PAP news agency.

Kukula emphasised that the relevant European army commands will be in charge of planning such options, “We [the chiefs of general staff of the European armies] have decided on recommendations, areas of interaction and possible scenarios, and now we are passing them on to the planning bodies, i.e. the [military] commands responsible for planning operations and possible interaction.”

The Chief of the Polish Armed Forces’ General Staff insisted that Warsaw would not send its military to Ukraine as part of such an operation. He said that such an operation could not be carried out without any Polish participation. The Kukula believes that such participation could include logistical support and military training of the military, “We can offer a very wide range of opportunities, primarily related to the basing of troops that can provide these guarantees (meaning security guarantees for Ukraine), their logistical support, as well as the provision of training infrastructure, whether for the training of Ukrainian troops or for the maintaining the combat readiness of forces that will guarantee stability and peace.”
