CEC certified Presidential election results in Belarus

The Central Election Commission of Belarus (CEC) has certified the results of the Presidential election of the Republic of Belarus at today’s CEC meeting

The final figures were announced by CEC Secretary Yelena Baldovskaya, “The CEC has received the protocols of the regional and Minsk city commissions for the election of the President of the Republic of Belarus on the results of voting in the regions and the city of Minsk, on the basis of which the election results for the country have been established. On the basis of these protocols, and in accordance with the requirements of the law, it is necessary to draw up a protocol of the Central Electoral Commission, in which the following data should be entered. The total number of voters in the Republic of Belarus was 6,903,994. The number of voters who cast their ballots stood at 5,916,195, including the number of voters who took part in early voting reaching 2,887,052. The number of voters who took part in voting at home was 278,850.

The following number of votes was cast in favour of the candidates for the presidency of the Republic of Belarus:

Oleg Gaidukevich – 119,272 votes;

Anna Kanopatskaya – 109,760 votes;

Aleksandr Lukashenko – 5,136,293 votes;

Sergei Syrankov – 189,740 votes;

Aleksandr Khizhnyak – 102,789 votes;

None of the above – 213,277 voters.

The number of invalid ballots is 45,064, and the number of damaged ballots is 2,094.

The CEC session also heard the information from the chairs of the regional and Minsk city commissions for the election of the President of the Republic of Belarus on the results of voting in the regions and the city of Minsk. Information on foreign (international) election observation, on the work of the Public Election Observation Centre, and on the work with young people during the preparation and holding of the Presidential election in Belarus was also considered.
