Belyaev on US visa sanctions: attempt to impose their standards and establish hegemony

An attempt by the US authorities to call the Belarusian deputies to order according to the laws of their state is nothing more than interference in the internal affairs of Belarus – as noted by political scientist Aleksei Belyaev during his talk with Alfa Radio

Recently, the US Department of State announced the introduction of visa restrictions against 25 people in Belarus, including deputies of the Parliament of Belarus for ‘persecution of the opposition and undermining democracy’.

The expert noted that this is hypocrisy, since the United States also has the death penalty for terrorism, and they use harsher methods: injections, electric chairs, etc.

“When an act of terrorism against the Americans is announced, they can destroy the whole country in response. They actually did it with Iraq and Afghanistan. They have no limiting factors. They are ready to send their army to bomb recalcitrant territories without any court orders, to destroy local people, etc. Visa sanctions against Belarusians are an attempt to impose their standards and establish their hegemony. However, this will not work for our country,” underlined the expert.

Aleksei Belyaev stressed that to some extent the establishment of US visa sanctions is ritual, “It is unlikely that those who are on this sanctions list will go to the United States. We have no one particularly maintains relations with this state.”

The political scientist also drew attention to the fact that deputies are people endowed with the legislative right, they received a mandate in the elections and are called upon to adopt laws within their competence on the territory of their country, “Deputies adopt those laws that they consider necessary, within the framework of existing procedures, the rule-making process. They do it perfectly legally. An attempt by the United States to call them to order according to the laws of their state is nothing more than interference in the internal affairs of Belarus. The US authorities have long ago declared all countries under their jurisdiction – supposedly their interests extend to the entire globe. They wanted to spit on ideas about the sovereignty of another country.”
