BelNPP first unit generated over 6bn kWh of electricity

Belarus’ Deputy Energy Minister Mikhail Mikhadyuk told the Belarusian Radio that this made it possible to replace 1.7 billion cubic metres of natural gas – as the official website of the Energy Ministry informs

Moreover, he spoke about the progress of works at the second power unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP). As part of the programme of its physical launch on December 27th, the loading of fresh nuclear fuel into the reactor core was completed. Works are currently underway to seal the reactor, after which its hydraulic tests will be performed at a temperature of 120 degrees Celsius and 180 kg/cm2 pressure. Next, the primary circuit of the reactor will be heated up to the nominal parameters.

Achieving the minimum controllable power level and the conduct of the necessary neutron-physical research will become an important part of the works.
