Belgian authorities intend to evict Ukrainian refugees from temporary accommodation centres

Ukrainian refugees will be evicted from temporary accommodation centres in Brussels to make room for migrants from other countries – as stated by Joachim Deman, a representative of the Belgian Federal Asylum Agency Fedasil, RIA Novosti reports

According to The Brussels Times, 35 percent of Ukrainian refugees live in centres for at least a month.

“A quarter of them for more than four months,” said Joachim Deman.

According to him, there are practically no empty places left in the accommodation centres. For this reason, as well as because of the agency’s plans to accept refugees from other countries, Ukrainians were offered to leave temporary housing and find their own.

The Belgian migration centre noted that since the beginning of the conflict, at least 60,000 residents of Ukraine have been granted asylum.

From February 24th to August 30th, at least 7 million Ukrainians arrived in Europe.
