Belarus’ PM: SCO actually complies with principles of equality and sovereignty of states

The Shanghai Co-operation Organisation (SCO) is one of the few international structures that actually observes the principles of equality and sovereignty of states, non-interference in internal affairs, and advocates sustainable economic development of the region – as stated by Belarus’ Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko during a meeting of the SCO Heads of Government in an expanded format in Bishkek

“In the context of dramatic geopolitical changes and the irrepressible desire to prevent the formation of a multipolar world on the part of Western countries, which, in achieving their goals, do not hesitate to use the entire available arsenal of means – from illegitimate economic sanctions to the outbreak of armed conflicts – the SCO is one of the few international structures that actually respects the principles of equality and sovereignty of states, non-interference in internal affairs, and advocates sustainable economic development of the region.”

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Belarus, Roman Golovchenko congratulated the Islamic Republic of Iran on officially joining the organisation as a full participant, “Belarus also welcomes the accession of the UAE, Kuwait, Myanmar and the Maldives to the SCO as dialogue partners.”

He also expressed confidence that Belarus will soon join the ranks of full members of the organisation.

“We’re sincerely grateful to all SCO member states for the work done to join our country to the organisation. We highly appreciate the trust placed in us and understand all the responsibility, having no doubt that we will be able to contribute to strengthening the ‘Shanghai family’. We count on your support in carrying out all the necessary internal procedures in your countries for Belarus’ speedy entry into the SCO,” added Roman Golovchenko.
