As reported, a draft resolution on Belarus has been submitted to the Senate of the US Congress.

“American legislators once again, in violation of the UN Charter, are rudely interfering in Belarus’ internal affairs, while making unsubstantiated accusations against the country. It is high time for the American senators to learn that sovereignty and independence are immutable values for the Belarusian people, and there will never be a compromise on these issues. Our country — being an active participant in integration economic projects and a donor of security in the region — has always pursued and is now pursuing a peaceful foreign policy,” the statement reads.

The Presidium of the Council of the Republic notes that the Belarusian topic is being unlawfully considered in the US Senate on the basis of outright fakes and disinformation.

“The international community should at last point out the existence of acute problems in American society, including in the field of human rights — persecution of opponents of the current government, rampant police violence, non-compliance with the principles of fair trial, the largest number of COVID-19 cases of infection and death in the world – to the country that constantly seeks to impose its human rights practices on everyone,” the document reads. “In mentoring attempts to ‘teach life’ to other states, the American political establishment has become not up to its citizens, their problems and concerns. In their policy, the US senators fail to notice the threat of a growing internal crisis, demonstrating complete isolation from real needs of the American people and an absolute inability to understand their needs.”

The Presidium of the Council of the Republic urges the American legislators to stop interfering in Belarus’ internal affairs, cease criminal activity dealing with application of unilateral illegal sanctions that violate international law, and focus on solving the problems of their people.
