Bach: gender equality achieved at 2026 Olympic Games in Italy

The ratio of male and female athletes – who will take part in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo – will be equal, stated IOC President Thomas Bach at a press conference following the organisation's session

“Now we have 45 percent of female athletes, before that, women accounted for 41 percent. There is an increase in the number of mixed competitions. There used to be eight mixed competitions, here they are planned to be 12: a 50 percent increase. We are going to Milan and are going to ensure gender parity,” he said.
