Awards for writers
Gomel’s Governor, Gennady Solovey, has presented Kirill Turovsky literary awards to five writers: Natalia Shestakova and her son Maksim, Lidia Dolbikova, Izyaslav Kotlyarov, Oleg Ananiev and Valentina Kadetova-Arestova
The event – held at the Rumyantsev-Paskevich Palace – featured also writers from Ukraine and Russia who came at the invitation of their Gomel colleagues to attend the Slavic Literary Dozhinki international festival and the On Kirill Turovsky’s Land regional event. After the official awarding ceremony, an information board dedicated to the beginning of the Great Patriotic War and the 80th anniversary of the release of a famous propaganda poster – We’ll Crush the Fascist Beast! – was unveiled.
As part of the literary event, a conference of Slavic writers, an artistic meeting with the People's Artiste of Belarus, a member of the Writers' Union – Eduard Khank, and a trip to the regional festival in Zhitkovichi were organised.
Governor Solovey noted the importance of such meetings since they enable their participants to discuss topical issues of modern times, including those related to the three Slavic peoples’ ties, as well as a great value of the literary world.
