Austrian Chancellor: Vienna will not support Kiev militarily, but will continue to provide humanitarian assistance
Austria does not intend to provide military assistance to Kiev due to its neutral status – as stated by the Austrian Federal Chancellor, Karl Nehammer, TASS reports
The Austrian Chancellor has recently held a telephone conversation with the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. As noted by the diplomat, although Vienna will not transfer weapons to Kiev, Austria will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainian side. Karl Nehammer said this is necessary ‘to alleviate the suffering of the people of Ukraine’.
Earlier, the Austrian Chancellor stated the need to reconsider the approach to the country’s national security and to develop an appropriate strategy. He noted that the neutral status of Austria would remain at the heart of the document.
