Andreichenko: it’s necessary to continue work on harmonisation of Belarusian and Russian legislations

We must continue to work on harmonising legislation, eliminating differences that do not allow us to fully synchronise our efforts to ensure equal rights for the Union State citizens – as noted by Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko during today’s meeting of the Council of Belarus-Russia Parliamentary Assembly in Pskov

“In labour legislation, it’s important for us to constantly monitor the common labour market, promote the mobility of personnel in the territory of the two countries, and to ensure a balance of interests of employers and employees. In order to improve the demographic situation, additional and more radical measures are still needed to stimulate and support the birth rate. Particular attention should be paid to the harmonisation of legislation regarding the payment of maternity capital and strengthening the targeting of benefits for families with children,” underlined Vladimir Andreichenko.

He urged the deputies of the Parliamentary Assembly and, above all, the profile commission to continue to keep these issues under constant control.

“The activation of inter-regional and cross-border co-operation plays a key role in the formation of a single economic space. It must be used as much as possible so that the economic entities of Belarus and Russia feel neither borders nor distances. It’s necessary to strengthen the role of regional authorities in the development and implementation of the Union State programmes and projects. In this regard, the removal of legal restrictions on the participation of the regional executive committees of Belarus, as well as the highest executive bodies of the constituent entities of Russia as state customers of Union State programmes and projects, could give an additional impetus to the intensification of interregional and border co-operation within the framework of the Union State, contributing to the development of new programmes and projects,” the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus expressed confidence.

During the ‘government hour’ it’s planned to hear information from the ministers of labour and social protection of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation on the creation of common social standards for the two countries’ citizens. The deputies will also discuss the preparation of the Union State draft budget for next year.
