MP: Belarus saving the West from major provocation

At a session of the 7th Belarusian People's Congress, President Aleksandr Lukashenko and KGB Chief Ivan Tertel informed on what is happening on the borders today, how Poland and the Baltic States are increasing their weapons, as well as what money is being allocated for special operations against Belarus. Mr. Tertel said that ‘terrorists are hiding in Ukrainian medical institutions’, and the Kiev authorities evacuated two hospitals after that. He also informed that the State Security Committee of Belarus had prevented drone strikes from Lithuania against facilities in Minsk, and even the fugitives (who published evidence that preparations had been actually underway) failed to refute that fact. In his talk with the SB TV, a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Oleg Gaidukevich, commented on these situations.

The MP paid attention to an important aspect: rather than inflaming the situation, Belarus’ President is diffusing it.

“Actually, the President – whose words have been attentively followed around the world – has never voiced any threats or made harsh statements that would somehow inflame the situation. He always repeats: Belarus never threatened anyone in the past, and it does not threaten anyone now. Everyone knows that Lukashenko is responsible for every word he says, and he has proven this truth throughout his political life. As regards the mentioned hospitals, I understand that we are talking about the fact that there was a military contingent there. But again, why are there accusations against Belarus? Our country is telling the truth. Have we ever done anything wrong? No. We have always defended ourselves. Lukashenko has one warning: do not meddle in our country and in our domestic political affairs. Moreover, no terrorist attacks should be prepared, but they continue doing this anyway. KGB has already prevented some of them, and people have been detained. The confessions of these terrorists have been shown on the TV. The President says that ‘there is no need to escalate the situation on the border’. So is it possible to say that we are escalating it? Anyone can come and see how many thousands of NATO soldiers and equipment are there. The provocations on the Belarusian-Ukrainian, Belarusian-Polish and Belarusian-Lithuanian borders continue as well,” Mr. Gaidukevich said.

The MP added that the President of Belarus is saving Europe from a big war, “He also warns of what may happen if someone violates the red lines in relation to our country. There is one more interesting point. As soon as statements were made about drones from Lithuania and provocations from Ukraine, refutations were spread just 20 minutes later. Moreover, we always show facts, we never just talk. If the President said, it means that there are already a million facts, everything has been confirmed a thousand times. Therefore, instead of saying that we are exacerbating the situation, they should rather thank Belarus for saving these fools from a big provocation.”
