Yuri Chebotar noted that Belarus is keen to expand bilateral co-operation. According to the head of the economic department, agreements following Belarus’ President Aleksandr Lukashenko’s visit to Iran in March 2023 gave a new impetus to the relations between our countries. Moreover, the implementation of the roadmap for comprehensive co-operation between the two states for 2023-2026 will help increase the effectiveness of dialogue on a wide range of issues.

The Economy Minister underlined that Iran is one of Belarus’ promising trading partners.

“Mutual trade turnover between our countries has more than tripled since 2021 while exports of goods have increased more than six-fold. However, we still have significant potential in the areas of trade-economic and investment interaction. Belarus is ready to help promote the initiatives of Iranian investors, enabling us to implement mutually beneficial investment projects,” noted Yuri Chebotar.

He also spoke about the work of the Belarusian economy under external pressure, stressing that our countries managed to adapt to the new realities and take the necessary measures to minimise the consequences of the imposed restrictions.
