WSJ: Poland tried to obstruct investigation of Nord Stream pipeline sabotage

Polish relevant ministries and departments avoid co-operation with European investigators who are investigating sabotage on the Nord Stream pipeline. Warsaw also tried to prevent the clarification of the circumstances of the incident, TASS reports, citing the American edition of The Wall Street Journal.

As the newspaper notes, citing sources in the European team of investigators, Polish authorities ‘have resisted co-operating with an international probe’ and ‘failed to disclose potentially crucial evidence’ to investigate the incident.

The material indicates that Polish officials have been slow to provide information and withheld key evidence about the alleged saboteurs’ movements on Polish soil, investigators said. The publication notes that the diligence with which Warsaw is trying to delay the investigation gives rise to ‘increasing suspicions about the role and motives’ of Poland in the gas pipeline bombing story.

According to the newspaper’s sources from among high-ranking EU officials, the association is going to ask the new PM of Poland, Donald Tusk, to assist in the investigation of sabotage.
