Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee Mark Warner, in an interview with CBS News, when asked about the support of the initiative to ban TikTok from the American administration, replied, “I think the White House is very in favour of this bill.”

Warner stressed that this social network not only poses a threat in terms of the safety of personal data of users in the United States, but can also be a way of informational influence on Americans from China.

“One of my biggest fears... [is] how that channel could be used for propaganda purposes of disinformation, advocated by the [Chinese] Communist Party,” the senator added.

At a hearing in the US Congress on March 23rd, TikTok Chief Executive Officer Shou Zi Chew said that the TikTok social network is not controlled by the Chinese government, all American data is stored in the United States under the control of an American company. He also urged Congress to ensure that the same security requirements apply to all technology companies, regardless of who owns them. Responding to questions from lawmakers, the head of the social network said he did not believe that TikTok collects more data than other companies.
