US inflation accelerated to 8.5% in March

In March 2022, annual inflation in the United States reached 8.5 percent – up 0.6 percent from February. This is the largest 12-month increase since the period ending December 1981 – according to the data provided by the US Department of Labour, TASS reports

On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 1.2 percent: the highest increase since September 2005. According to the US Department of Labour, gasoline, housing and food rose in price most of all.

According to the American company FactSet, analysts believed that the annual inflation rate would be 8.4 percent, and price growth in monthly terms – 1.1 percent.
