The growing number of participants and countries attending the Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security each year speaks a lot — as stated by Zachary Paikin, the Deputy Director of the Better Order Project at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft (US), on the sidelines of the 3rd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security
The expert noted that the involvement of representatives from certain Western countries in the conference can be seen as a sign of willingness to engage in dialogue.
“There are people in the West who are open to establishing dialogue. We see that Donald Trump has provided a significant impetus in this regard. The approach of using force and pressure by Western countries toward Russia has not yielded results. Therefore, platforms for dialogue, such as the conference in Minsk, are truly important. Only through dialogue can a stable future and steady development be achieved. It is crucial to seize every opportunity to foster dialogue,” Mr. Paikin emphasised.
According to him, the US has reasons to be concerned.
“We have already witnessed 19 rounds of sanctions. These have not altered Russia’s political stance or its perspective on its fundamental interests, including security. Hence, we must acknowledge that there is no alternative but to pursue dialogue. President Trump and his team will be able to find a resolution to this situation,” the expert added.
