US and Singapore took the lead in public debt per capita in 2022

Singapore ranked first among countries in terms of public debt per capita in 2022 – $ 117,400, followed by the United States with $93,000 – according to the UN data, RIA Novosti reports

According to the material, the leaders among countries with a large margin in terms of public debt per capita in 2022 were Singapore, the United States and Japan, Russia. Next come Canada and Belgium with $58,900 and $ 52,600.

“The top-10 also includes Iceland ($51,200), Italy ($49,200), France ($47,100), Ireland ($47,100) and Great Britain ($46,600). The top-30 also includes, e.g., Norway ($42,100), Australia ($36,500), Switzerland ($36,200) and Germany ($32,600),” follows from an analysis of UN data. Among the BRICS countries, the leaders were China (47th place), Brazil (57th place) and South Africa with a public debt of $4,700 per capita.

Belarus is ranked 91st with $3,100.
