UN: summer 2023 was the hottest on record

Last summer was the hottest on record, and with such a temperature increase, it is necessary to step up action to combat climate change – as stated by UN Secretary General António Guterres, RIA Novosti reports

The message of the UN Secretary General, cited by the agency, reads, “Our planet has just experienced a boiling season, the hottest summer on record. Climate breakdown has begun.”

According to António Guterres, the climate is being disrupted faster than the extreme weather events hitting every corner of the Earth can be dealt with.

“A sharp rise in temperature calls for action. Leaders must step up their fight for climate change solutions now. We can still avoid the worst,” the UN Secretary General is convinced.
