Ukraine expected to face shortage of electricity in coming summer and winter

The shortage of electricity in Ukraine will continue during the summer months and throughout the next winter – as noted by Ukrenergo CEO Vladimir Kudritsky, TASS reports

In his talk with the Ukrainian edition of Forbes, Mr. Kudritsky said, “The power system will experience a certain shortage of energy during the summer months, because we will be repairing a lot, as well as during the next winter.”

Ukrenergo CEO added that the restriction of electricity ‘does not mean emergency shutdowns’, and additional gas-powered power units might be used. According to him, ‘it is possible to attract emergency assistance from the EU energy systems and also to import electricity from Europe’.
