The agency’s reporter has got convinced that labels accompany the account of one of ‘the media affiliated with the Ukrainian government’. The accounts of Ukrainian officials are also marked as ‘official representatives of the Ukrainian government’.

Earlier, Twitter began to mark accounts of Russian state media.

The social network explained that ‘labels provide additional context about accounts that are controlled by certain official representatives of governments, state-affiliated media entities and individuals associated with those entities’.

“State-affiliated media is defined as outlets where the state exercises control over editorial content through financial resources, direct or indirect political pressures, and/or control over production and distribution. Accounts belonging to state-affiliated media entities, their editors-in-chief, and/or their prominent staff may be labelled," Twitter added.

At the same time, some state-financed media organisation with editorial independence are not defined as state-affiliated media for the purposes of this policy.
