A student call centre has begun functioning in the city. Eleven future doctors work with first-level contacts to identify patients with coronavirus infection and such assistance is planned to be provided to all city polyclinics.

More than two dozen students of different university faculties have volunteered to participate in epidemiological investigations at the Gomel Regional Centre of Hygiene and Epidemiology, while assisting in identifying foci of infection.

“A new coronavirus wave is producing a burden on the healthcare system of the region and, with this in view, the voluntary contribution of the Gomel State Medical University students into our general medical practice will be definitely useful,” the educational establishment’s press secretary, Yelena Smirnova, states.
