The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Samarkand, and Nikolai Snopkov called their meeting ‘short, but historic’. “It will change the world. It will change the world of Belarus, because fundamental and strategic decisions have been made. First of all, this is an increase in the level of co-operation between Belarus and China to all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership. All-weather means that we will support each other in the conditions of any international actions and any international agenda," he explained.

According to Mr. Snopkov, there will be a political impulse along China's management vertical stating that Belarus is a reliable, all-weather partner. "Government agencies and businesses will respond accordingly to further expansion of liaisons,” he said, adding, “The increased level in the conditions of sanctions repression means true friendship between the two leaders and two peoples. We are in favour of united China, and China stands for united Belarus."

According to the First Deputy Prime Minister, Belarus' economic co-operation with China will also reach a qualitatively new level. "Practical, strategic, applied decisions were made at that seemingly short meeting. They relate to the automotive industry, production of potash fertilisers, and a range of financial issues," he said.
