Belarus and China have agreed on deeper industrial co-operation – as informed by Belarus’ First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov following today’s talks between President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko and representatives of Chinese business circles in Beijing
The First Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that Aleksandr Lukashenko's upcoming meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on June 4th will be a family friendly dinner, a format that is not used with any other world leader. “This is the key point,” he said. “Actually, the whole trip is guided by this. As you understand, the leaders’ agenda is global, taking into account the situation. At the same time, the bilateral agenda is no less global and strategic. Therefore, of course, the President could not but elaborate on the issues that are sensitive and strategically important for us.”
Mr. Snopkov recalled that, back in December 2023, Xi Jinping proposed more active co-operation in the joint technological development of China and Belarus based on modern Chinese technologies and Belarusian industrial competencies, primarily in mechanical engineering and tractor construction.
“Since that moment, we have been actively developing this topic, and it is gaining momentum. The Year of Science and Technology is coming to an end, and a two-year programme dedicated to industrial co-operation will start next year. Therefore, today's meeting [of the President of Belarus with representatives of Chinese business circles] has become a strategic message for more expanded and in-depth liaisons with one of the world's leading manufacturers of heavy machinery,” the First Deputy Prime Minister said.
