Reserve army formation in Russia’s Armed Forces announced

By the end of June, a reserve army will be formed in the Russian Armed Forces, RIA Novosti reports with reference to Russia’s Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu

"We are forming reserves as part of the army corps, the army and, in addition, five regiments of the 20th tank army. Everything is going as planned there. In fact, by the end of June, we will complete the formation of the reserve army and further the formation of the army corps in the near future," Mr. Shoigu said.

According to the Russian Defence Minister, these five regiments are 60 percent formed now – both in terms of military personnel and equipment.

Mr. Shoigu also informed that, on average, 1,336 people enter the Russian Armed Forces for contract service per day. 114 thousand people have been recruited under a direct contract. In addition, there are more than 50 thousand volunteers.
