The legacy left by Ali Khamenei will continue to serve as a guide for those who seek to strengthen Iran's independence, stability and prosperity – as stated by Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus’ National Assembly Igor Sergeyenko during his today’s meeting with Chairman of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, sb.by reports with reference to Belarus’ House of Representatives
At the beginning of the conversation, Mr. Sergeyenko expressed condolences on behalf of the President of Belarus, the Belarusian people and himself in connection with the tragic death of the former Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, “The passing of Ali Khamenei is an irretrievable loss not only for the Iranian people, but also for the countries friendly to Iran, which for many decades witnessed his state activities aimed at strengthening the sovereignty, independence and national dignity of his country.” He added that Ali Khamenei's sincere desire to consolidate society, preserve traditions and strengthen the spirit of the nation is particularly respected.
Mr. Sergeyenko drew attention to the fact that, for millions of Iranians, he was a leader who never moved away from people, going through any difficulties with them and sharing common triumphs, aspirations and hopes. “Over the years, Belarus and Iran have developed relations of friendship, mutual respect and constructive co-operation. Ali Khamenei made a significant contribution to the development of these relations, and it will remain important in the future," he said.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives wished friendly Iran continued prosperity, peace and stability. Mr. Sergeyenko also addressed warm words to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, wishing him strength, wisdom, good health and longevity for the benefit of his country and its people.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus’ National Assembly, Igor Sergeyenko, has arrived in the Islamic Republic of Iran on a working visit today upon the instruction of President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko. Meetings with the country's leadership are planned during the visit, and issues on the bilateral and international agenda, strengthening inter-parliamentary ties, and implementation of joint economic and humanitarian projects will be discussed.
Mr. Sergeyenko will take part in the farewell ceremony for the deceased Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei. It is beginning in Tehran today, July 3rd, and will last until July 9th. The first funeral event will be attended by high-ranking delegations from dozens of countries.
The Iranian leader was killed in an attack by the United States and Israel on February 28th. Initially, the funeral events were planned to be held in March, but at the last moment, the Iranian authorities postponed them. The decision was explained by the need to prepare the infrastructure since a huge number of people wished to attend the farewell ceremony.
