Scholz called to abolish EU unanimous decision-making in some areas

The European Union should in some areas abandon the principle of unanimity in decision-making – as noted by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, TASS reports

Scholz believes that decisions should be made on the basis of a majority of votes, rather than waiting until everyone approves a certain initiative. According to him, this will speed up the decision-making processes.

“I’m in favour of expanding the list of decisions taken by a qualified majority in some areas where decisions have so far been taken unanimously. We need to continue to have discussions on this matter,” the German Chancellor added.

He noted that in this way the union ‘will retain functionality and relevance’.
