Sales of new passenger cars in Belarus increased by almost 25% in August

The dynamics of growth in sales of new cars continues in Belarus, according to the information published on the website of the Belarusian Automobile Association (BAA)

As noted in the BAA, in August the demand for new passenger cars exceeded the supply. In just a month, 2019 cars were sold – almost a quarter more than in July this year, and 3.7 times more than in August 2022.

“The total sales for the eight months of this year were 1.8 times higher than those for the same period in 2022 (11,692 versus 6,408 passenger cars, respectively),” the report says.

The leading position in the market is still occupied by the Geely brand: 8,770 of these vehicles have been sold since early 2023 (75 percent of the market share).

The BAA expects that the trend will continue in September. In Q4, the import of new brands of cars will be significantly affected by the change in the exchange rate of the Belarusian Rouble against the Chinese Yuan and the unification of the recycling fee tariffs with the Russian Federation.
