Russian journalist named true reason for the West's struggle against TikTok
The struggle of Western countries against the TikTok social network is a manifestation of their Sinophobia – as stated by a journalist of the Vesti programme in London, Aleksandr Khabarov, in his talk with the Soloviev Live channel
The US President Administration has recently supported a bill to block the TikTok social network owned by China’s ByteDance in the country.
“Various investigations are being actively conducted against TikTok not only in the UK, but also in the US, with all possible attempts made to block this social network. TikTok's management is trying to explain that China has had an indirect relationship for a long time, but this yields no result. There is a concept of Russophobia, and we are already used to it, we understand what it means. There is also some kind of Sinophobia, when everything that China does is bad [for the West]. That is why TikTok is in the same category," Mr. Khabarov said.
According to the Russian journalist, Western leaders do not understand how the social network works, and when they start to be explained that the TikTok information is not available to anyone, they deny it.
“No one can provide an absolute guarantee that there will be no leakage of information. At the same time, opponents say they are being forced to trust Chinese. They [Western countries] do not want to trust China, and this is a rather flawed logic. After all, the conversation should be conducted with an emphasis on the facts," Mr. Khabarov stressed.
