Russian delegation suspends work in PACE

The Russian delegation has suspended its work in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) – as reported by RIA Novosti

“It was decided not to take part in the work of PACE committees and bodies, in its plenary sessions,” said a member of the delegation, Senator Alexander Bashkin.

He added that this decision had to be made in connection with the vivid anti-Russian directions of the assembly’s work. Mr. Bashkin also recalled that at the moment the Russian Foreign Ministry is considering the issue of terminating Russia’s participation in the Council of Europe.

Earlier, Strasbourg suspended Moscow’s powers in the CMCE (Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe) and PACE.
