Representative of Polish Embassy: Khatyn is great tragedy, we come to honour memory of all those who died

On March 22nd, the 81st anniversary of the Khatyn tragedy, the memorial complex commemorates the victims of the genocide and thousands of other Belarusian villages that were destroyed by the Nazis during the Great Patriotic War. Some Europeans also recall those events. Representatives of Poland arrived in Khatyn. After the ceremony of laying flowers at the Eternal Flame in the Khatyn State Memorial Complex, the representative of the Polish Embassy, Krzysztof Ozhanna, shared his feelings with journalists.

“I came here to honour the memory of those who died in Khatyn in 1943. I am not here for the first time. I visited Khatyn for the first time in 2010. Every time I come here, I remember the victims of World War II. I know that almost 150 people died here. And the birches are not accidental, they symbolise that a quarter of the Belarusian people died during the war. This is a great tragedy, and every year we come in Khatyn to honour the memory of all those who died,” Mr. Ozhanna noted.
