Report made to Lukashenko that fence on Belarusian-Polish border underperforms

The effectiveness of the fence, which the Polish side has erected at the border as a protection against illegal migration, can be considered low – as reported by the Chairman of the State Border Committee, Major General Konstantin Molostov, at today’s event focusing on the approval by Belarus’ President Aleksandar Lukashenko of the decisions dealing with the state border protection in 2024

According to Mr. Molostov, a grouping of forces and means consisting of border guards, armed forces and police, has been deployed on Poland’s border territory. “Based on the created barrier in the form of a 5m-high fence with video surveillance and anti-digging systems, they conduct daily aerial reconnaissance and patrolling along the state border,” he said.

“My sources inform me that the fence against migrants practically does not work, migrants overcome it without problems. Is it true?” Aleksandr Lukashenko asked, and the Chairman of the State Border Committee replied, “That's right. Poles themselves estimate the effectiveness of their fence at no higher than 60 percent.”
