Poland's Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz expressed gratitude to the soldiers on the eastern border of the country after they fired rubber bullets at a group of illegal migrants from Afghanistan, TASS reports
The Polish politician wrote, “Soldiers guarding the eastern border risk their lives and health every day to protect Poland from illegal migrants, and so it was on July 10th, not far from Michalowo. Under the hail of stones and aggression [of migrants], the border defenders did everything to stop the invaders – and they did it effectively.”
“Soldiers, thank you for your service!” Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz added.
Earlier, one of the Polish Internet portals shared details of a border incident recorded on July 10th, when a Polish soldier fired rubber bullets at a group of migrants from Afghanistan on Polish territory, and hit one of them with the butt of a machine gun. During the melee, the soldier was slightly wounded and was taken to the hospital.
The Afghan who wounded him was detained and placed in a closed centre for foreigners. He faces up to 10 years in prison for assaulting a soldier in the line of duty.
