Opinion: Lukashenko's visit to UAE and Zimbabwe is quite expected

Aleksandr Lukashenko's visit to the United Arab Emirates and Zimbabwe proves once again that there is no isolation of Belarus – as stated by Vadim Gigin, the Chairman of the Republican Znanie Belarusian Society, in his talk with Alfa Radio

The expert noted that Belarus enjoys friendly relations with the UAE and Zimbabwe, “Aleksandr Lukashenko has previously visited the UAE, and the Belarusian Embassy has been effectively operating there for a long time. The UAE also has its diplomatic mission in Belarus. We see that this state does not succumb to the dictates and pressure of the collective West, primarily the United States, which is accustomed to view the region as its gas station – though this is not true. Of course, we are happy about that, and we see support.”

Speaking about Zimbabwe, Mr. Gigin stated that this country is also pursuing an independent policy. “Belarus has good, stable relations with Zimbabwe, we are implementing joint economic projects. Accordingly, the route is quite expected, and it demonstrates that the Head of State is primarily taking upon himself the fulfilment of the tasks that he sets for the country’s economic bloc. We should look for new markets and new regions, which – as our President emphasises – would be glad to welcome us and our products. Moreover, we are speaking not only about goods: Belarus can also export its technologies and education," he added.
