NOC President congratulates Olympic champion Yanovsky on his 65th birthday

The President of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus (NOC), Viktor Lukashenko, has congratulated today the famous Belarusian boxer, Olympic champion Vyacheslav Yanovsky on his 65th birthday – as reported by NOC in his Telegram channel

Viktor Lukashenko stressed that the name of Vyacheslav Yanovsky occupies a worthy place in the annals of the sport of high achievements. “Talent, skills, the ability to fight to the end and the original style of fighting have helped you more than once to win convincing victories over strong and experienced opponents, to achieve the highest peaks,” the congratulatory message reads.

The NOC President added, “By winning the gold medal at the 1988 Olympics, you became the first Belarusian Olympic champion in boxing. Such a brilliant achievement certainly serves as the best reference for the current generation of our boxers.”

Viktor Lukashenko wished Vyacheslav Yanovsky strong health, inexhaustible energy, prosperity, success and all the best.

Alongside the gold medal earned at the Olympic Games in Seoul-1988, Vyacheslav Yanovsky also boasts many other awards. The eminent boxer is a silver (1997) and bronze (1985) winner of the European Championship, and in 1987 he won the World Cup.
